Bill Juliff was born William Thomas Juliff on 30th December 1914. His birth certificate states that he was born at the "Rear of 24 Cromwell Street, City of Collingwood County of Bourke" in Victoria Australia.

His parents were William James Juliff (22 years) and Nellie Juliff (née Pedder) (also 22) and they were married just nine months prior, on 18th March 1914.

The informant was Susan Juliff (grandmother) who also lived Rear of 24 Cromwell Street. You can see Cromwell Street on the map below. The building still stands.

Bill had four brothers, Jack, Terry Laurence and Peter. Nellie Juliff died before she reached 30 and Bill's father, William James Juliff later remarried and fathered Peter Juliff.

After the death of their mother, Bill and Jack were placed in St Augustine's Orphanage, Geelong.
